The story
Movement (辶) of an army (軍): the logistics of moving forces across distance. Beyond transport, 運 carries the beautiful dual meaning of "fate" and "luck": your 運命 (unmei, destiny) is the path your life travels. 運がいい (un ga ii, good luck) is what every traveler hopes for.
Used in 運転 (unten, driving), 運動 (undou, exercise), and 運命 (unmei, destiny/fate)
