The story

Words (言) spoken through endurance (忍, the ninja's kanji, a blade 刃 over the heart 心): admitting what you would rather not. 認める is to admit or recognize, and 確認, checking, comes before every step in a Japanese office.

Used in 認める (mitomeru, to admit/recognize), 確認 (kakunin, confirmation/check), and 承認 (shounin, approval)
