The story

Under a roof (宀), everything set straight (正, squeezed at the bottom): settled and staying put. Japan's 定食 is the fixed set meal of rice, soup and a main dish, and your 予定 is a plan already pinned down.

Used in 予定 (yotei, plan/schedule), 決定 (kettei, decision), and 定食 (teishoku, set meal)
