The story

Two hands (廾) turning a piece of jade (王, the 玉 radical) over and over: playing with something. 弄ぶ is to toy with, feelings included, and to be 翻弄される is to be tossed about, like a ship in a storm or a life ruled by fate.

Used in 弄ぶ (moteasobu, to toy with), 翻弄 (honrou, tossing about/making a plaything of), and 愚弄 (gurou, mockery)
