The story

What looks like a rice field (田) began as a drawing of a stomach full of food, set on flesh (月). 胃 is the stomach: 胃が痛い is a stomachache, 胃薬 settles it, and Japanese health checks often include a 胃カメラ, a gastroscopy.

Used in 胃 (i, stomach), 胃薬 (igusuri, stomach medicine), and 胃腸 (ichou, stomach and intestines)
