The story
A shelter (广) where you stake your claim (占): a merchant's covered stall. Japanese 商店街 (shōtengai, shopping streets) stretch back centuries, from Kyoto's Nishiki Market to Tokyo's Ameyoko. Each 店 is a family legacy, some operating for generations with unchanging dedication to craft.
Used in 商店 (shouten, shop), 店員 (ten'in, shop clerk), and 店舗 (tenpo, store/premises)
