The story

The sun (日) sinking into tall grass (艹), with one more sun (日) beneath for good measure: dusk. 日が暮れる is the day getting dark, and 暮らす, to live, is days passing one after another: 一人暮らし is living alone.

Used in 暮らす (kurasu, to live), 一人暮らし (hitorigurashi, living alone), and 夕暮れ (yuugure, dusk)
