The story

Words (言) beside a person (人) over three lines (彡): picture a doctor asking questions and studying every line of your face. 診察 is a consultation, 診断 a diagnosis, and a clinic door reading 本日休診 means closed today.

Used in 診察 (shinsatsu, medical examination), 診断 (shindan, diagnosis), and 診る (miru, to examine a patient)
