The story

An eye (目) beside 坴, earth piled in mounds: picture neighbors looking kindly across their fields. 睦 is harmony: a 親睦会 is a party to get to know each other, a 仲睦まじい couple is close and loving, and 睦月 is the old name for January.

Used in 親睦 (shinboku, friendship/fellowship), 仲睦まじい (nakamutsumajii, close and loving), and 睦月 (mutsuki, January, old name)
