The story

A knife (刀) under two hands (龹): tallies were once notched wood, split so each side held half as proof. 券 is a ticket now: 定期券 the commuter pass, and 食券 the meal ticket you buy from a machine before sitting down in a ramen shop.

Used in 食券 (shokken, meal ticket), 定期券 (teikiken, commuter pass), and 乗車券 (joushaken, train ticket)
