The story
Cloth (巾) hung long (長): 帳 once meant a curtain, as in 蚊帳, a mosquito net. Now it is mostly a book to write in: 手帳 is a pocket planner, 通帳 a bank passbook, and 几帳面, meticulous, is said to come from the finely finished posts of a curtain stand.
Used in 手帳 (techou, planner/notebook), 通帳 (tsuuchou, bankbook), and 几帳面 (kichoumen, meticulous)
