The story

Flesh (月) beside 方, side or direction: the soft padding that spreads out every way. 肪 almost only appears in 脂肪, fat, as in 体脂肪率, the body fat reading on Japanese bathroom scales, and 皮下脂肪, the fat under the skin.

Used in 脂肪 (shibou, fat), 体脂肪 (taishibou, body fat), and 皮下脂肪 (hika shibou, subcutaneous fat)
