The story

A sheep (羊) trotting down the road (辶) until it gets where it is going: 達 means reaching, as in 達成, achieving a goal. Added to people it makes a group: 私達 is we, 子供達 the children, and 友達 a friend.

Used in 友達 (tomodachi, friend), 私達 (watashitachi, we), and 達成 (tassei, achievement)
