The story

Grain (禾), 尤 and 旨: picture a rice stalk bowing low to study its roots. 稽 means to consider, so 稽古, "pondering the old", is practice in a dojo, a tea room or a sumo stable's ring, and 滑稽 is comical.

Used in 稽古 (keiko, practice/training), 滑稽 (kokkei, comical), and 荒唐無稽 (koutou mukei, absurd)
