The story
A nail (丁) driven in at the crown of a head (頁): the very top. 頂上 is a summit, and 頂く, to receive, once meant lifting a gift up onto your head, which is why meals in Japan begin with いただきます.
Used in 頂く (itadaku, to receive humbly), 頂上 (choujou, summit), and 山頂 (sanchou, mountaintop)
