The story

A sound (音) with company (員): sounds that answer each other. 韻 is rhyme and echo: 韻を踏む, stepping on the rhyme, is to rhyme, as rappers do, and 余韻 is what lingers after a bell, a film or a good meal.

Used in 余韻 (yoin, lingering resonance/afterglow), 韻を踏む (in o fumu, to rhyme), and 音韻 (on'in, speech sounds)
