The story
A hand (扌) beside 居, to stay: setting something down where it will stay. 据える is to install, 据え置き is leaving prices or rates as they are, and a 据え置き game console sits under the TV, unlike a handheld.
Used in 据える (sueru, to set/install), 据え置き (sueoki, leaving unchanged), and 見据える (misueru, to fix one's eyes on)
