The story

A hand (扌) added to 受, receive, which already shows one hand passing to another: 授 is the giving side. 授業 is a class where knowledge is handed down, 教授 a professor, and 授乳室 the nursing room in Japanese malls and stations.

Used in 授業 (jugyou, class/lesson), 教授 (kyouju, professor), and 授ける (sazukeru, to grant)
