The story
Water (氵) beside 昜, the sun climbing high: water heated. Japanese gives hot water its own word, お湯, apart from 水, and a curtain marked 湯, or simply ゆ, hangs at the door of public baths and hot springs.
Used in お湯 (oyu, hot water), 銭湯 (sentou, public bath), and 湯気 (yuge, steam)
