The story

Metal (金) filled (充) with powder and shot: a gun is a metal tube you load. Under Japan's strict 銃刀法, the firearms and swords law, few people own one, so 拳銃 and 銃撃 live mostly in news reports and crime novels.

Used in 銃 (juu, gun), 拳銃 (kenjuu, handgun/pistol), and 銃撃 (juugeki, shooting/gunfire)
