The story

A hand (扌) peeling back a skin (皮): opening something up for all to see. 披 lives in 披露, showing or announcing, and above all in 披露宴, the Japanese wedding reception where the new couple is presented to their guests.

Used in 披露 (hirou, announcement/display) and 披露宴 (hirouen, wedding reception)
