The story

Thread (糸) you are held responsible (責) for: twisting hemp fibers into yarn, the old work of 績, strand after strand. Results pile up the same way: 成績 is your grades, 業績 a company's performance, and 実績 a proven track record.

Used in 成績 (seiseki, grades/results), 業績 (gyouseki, business results/achievements), and 実績 (jisseki, track record)
