The story

A boat (舟) beside 廷, a court: picture a small launch rowing out from the palace steps. 艇 is a small craft: a 救命艇 is a lifeboat, a 潜水艇 a submersible, and 競艇, powerboat racing, is one of the few sports Japan lets people bet on.

Used in 競艇 (kyoutei, powerboat racing), 救命艇 (kyuumeitei, lifeboat), and 潜水艇 (sensuitei, submersible)
