The story

An altar table, drawn plainly: picture offerings set out on it for the gods to see. Squeezed to 礻, it is the altar in 神 and 礼; alone, 示す is to show or point out, and 指示 is an instruction.

Used in 示す (shimesu, to show), 指示 (shiji, instruction), and 表示 (hyouji, display/label)
