The story

Movement (辶) passed on from station to station: 逓 is handing along in turn. The old 逓信省 ran Japan's post, and the 〒 mark is said to come from the テ of 逓信; economists still say 逓減 and 逓増, shrinking or growing step by step.

Used in 逓信 (teishin, communications/post), 逓減 (teigen, gradual decrease), and 逓増 (teizou, gradual increase)
