The story
A road (辶) with a branch snapped off (折): a journey cut short. 逝く is to pass away, gentler than 死ぬ, and news reports announce a public figure's 逝去, death, or 急逝, a sudden passing.
Used in 逝く (yuku, to pass away), 逝去 (seikyo, death, respectful), and 急逝 (kyuusei, sudden death)
