The story

Metal (金) that stands tall (竟) and reflects truth. The Yata no Kagami is one of Japan's three Imperial Regalia, a sacred 鏡 said to have lured the sun goddess Amaterasu from her cave, returning light to the world.

Used in 眼鏡 (megane, glasses) and 鏡餅 (kagamimochi, New Year's rice cake)
